Congratulations Ten years old Transfar Whyyon ! Interestingly UPM Changshu has also been celebrating its ten year activity here in China.
Since our start up, we have been interested to find reliable local suppliers. This work has not been very easy and it has taken a lot of efforts. Coming from western culture ten years ago, I realized huge gaps in many issues between Chinese and western companies. This made me a bit worried. On the other hand we also saw the importance of co-operation with Chinese companies. So generally we had to find Chinese companies that we could work with. And today we are working with many Chinese companies successfully. One of the best local companies has been Transfar Whyyon. Actually our co-operation can be called early success story with local company. So it was also very important to create wider trust inside of UPM towards good Chinese companies.
When I first met people from Transfar, I was impressed with many things. The professional attitude and good educational background and international experience of the management were the key elements from the beginning. Also high level technical knowledge and skills were in place and management procedures seemed to be true and working well. So we started to know each other better and made successful testing before our first trials on PM 2. During the first trials we also met few problems. But together we could solve them in a positive way. Here I realized the willingness of Transfar to develop their skills and improve their process in an active and persistent way. Also the commercial co-operation was good from the beginning and resulted into agreements of continuous deliveries to Changshu.
During our first visit to Transfar Whyyon, we were positively surprised with the factory and way of doing production, quality control, product development, safety and deliveries. We could also sense the eagerness to grow and further develop the company. These first impressions have turned out to be correct in all respect. Transfar has been growing very fast and successfully in its business. It is good to see that to happen. We have been happy with product, services and co-operation all these years.
During my MBA study project work, we found out that the Transfar staff turnover has lowered during last five years. That was so exceptional so we investigated the back round and reasons for it. Also this matter was handled in a very open minded way to share experiences. We learned a lot. This is an example of real and deeper co-operation between two companies. Thanks for that and hope we can share experiences also in the future.
